Nerissa Legg, M.A., LPC-S, founder of Black Girls Crowned

Commander Eugene Rush serves with distinction at the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office, where he is recognized for his dedication to public safety, community engagement, and collaborative leadership. Throughout his career, he has worked to strengthen relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve, promoting trust, accountability, and meaningful partnerships.

As a valued partner of Acts of Change Network–Peacenic, Commander Rush has been instrumental in supporting initiatives that foster safer neighborhoods, youth engagement, reentry success, and community wellness. His commitment to collaboration reflects the shared belief that lasting change is achieved when public safety, community organizations, faith leaders, and residents work together.

Commander Rush’s leadership, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to service continue to make a positive impact throughout Washtenaw County. Donna Bentley serves as the Director of Communications for Lincoln Consolidated Schools, where she leads communication initiatives that strengthen connections between the school district, students, families, staff, and the broader community. Through strategic messaging, community engagement, and public relations, Donna helps ensure that the district’s mission, accomplishments, and opportunities are effectively shared with stakeholders.

In addition to her role with Lincoln Consolidated Schools, Donna provides valuable administrative support to Acts of Change Network–Peacenic, assisting with communications, organizational coordination, and behind-the-scenes tasks that help keep the organization’s initiatives running smoothly. Her professionalism, attention to detail, and collaborative spirit make her a trusted resource to the Peacenic leadership team.

Donna’s dedication to public service, effective communication, and community engagement continues to make a meaningful impact both within Lincoln Consolidated Schools and through her support of Acts of Change Network–Peacenic.

Jamie Kelsey is a dedicated community advocate and valued Core Team Member of Acts of Change Network–Peacenic. Through her willingness to serve, positive attitude, and commitment to community engagement, Jamie has become an integral part of the Peacenic team.

As a trusted Core Team Member, Jamie consistently steps forward to assist with event planning, volunteer coordination, and day-of-event operations. Her dependability, teamwork, and heart for serving others have helped ensure the success of Peacenic initiatives, including the annual Peacenic Festival and other community outreach efforts.

Jamie’s passion for bringing people together and her unwavering support of the organization’s mission exemplify the spirit of collaboration upon which Acts of Change Network–Peacenic is built. Her dedication continues to make a meaningful impact on the communities we serve.

Nerissa is the founder of Black Girls Crowned, is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Michigan with a deep passion for creating safe, supportive spaces within the Black community. She works with individuals, organizations, and businesses to promote mental wellness, self-care, and meaningful conversations surrounding current events and other issues that impact emotional health and well-being.

A proud Ypsilanti native and devoted Child of God, Nerissa is committed to strengthening and building community through service, collaboration, and advocacy. She serves as a Core Team Member of Acts of Change Network–PEACENIC, where she is the Program Coordinator. In this role, she helps develop impactful community initiatives, foster meaningful partnerships, and coordinate programs that empower individuals and strengthen neighborhoods. Her dedication to service and community engagement continues to inspire positive change throughout the region.
